Fundraising Update
Posted Saturday, July 30, 2011 by Joe Hamburg
It is that time of year again for our annual alumni fundraising campaign. Before we get into this years campaign I’d like to take a moment and revisit last years. Last year we set a goal of increasing the number of alumni contributors by ten percent over the previous year. I am happy to report that last year we had 53 contributors which was an 18% increase over the previous year! These brothers contributed a total of $3,240. Equally as satisfying was the fact that we had nine brothers join us for the first time. On a sad note we had two brothers who had supported our annual campaigns for many years enter the Chapter Eternal; James Anastas 1947 and Bill Ingram 1953
This year’s fund raising drive theme will be “Battle of the Decades”. Since starting our formal annual drive in 1990 we have collected over $78,000 in donations from 209 alumni brothers. Good luck to all and may the best decade win!
The annual fundraising campaign is an important part of helping to insure the continued presence of Alpha Tau Chapter on the Ohio University campus. Over the years these funds have been used to assist the active chapter in meeting financial obligations which they otherwise would not have been able to meet. In addition to meeting current financial needs, a special “Foundation” account was established which sets aside $10 of each contribution to a special fund. This fund is intended to be used for some special purpose as seen fit by the House Corporation leadership and currently has a balance of $10,973. Thanks to brother Mac for the foresight in establishing this fund.
For the second year in a row the mailing was sent out to all alumni brothers for whom we have a valid mailing address (over 500). If you are not currently receiving any correspondence from me via email or the annual mailings, that means we do not have a valid email and/or mailing address on file for you. So that we can update our database please either write (see address below) or email me at rlongo76@yahoo.com with your name, email, and postal address.
For those brothers who desire to participate in the current year fundraising campaign you can send your contribution, made payable to Theta Chi House Corporation to: Rich Longo 19006 Serenity Point Lane Cornelius, NC 28031.
In closing I would like to thank all of our alumni brothers for their continued interest and support of Alpha Tau Chapter.

Summer House Corp. Meeting
Posted Thursday, July 7, 2011 by Joe Hamburg
Dear Brothers,

It is that time again. Summer House Corporation meetings usually are less formal but we get work done. The last few years we have had some of the best alumni attendance at the summer meeting. The reason has become clear to me; we are bringing the meeting to an annual alumni reunion rather than asking alumni to come to Athens for nothing but a meeting.

Brother Eric Wilson '82 and his wife Cindy, have hosted the big party, at their home, for about ten years. They have lots of acreage for tents, hiking, room for kids to run around, a band playing for hours and hours, plenty of food and beverages, etc.

Items that will be reviewed include: the finances, alumni recruitment, house repairs, active chapter issues, communications etc. We will also be opening up nominations for the House Corporation board. Brothers, this past year has been a challenge on this latter issue. Brother Joe Hamburg has been working feverishly as our Treasurer. Despite my attempts to step down, I remained as President due to no one stepping up. I again wish to step down as an officer simply because living over 560 miles away makes it quite difficult to attend to the work involved. Joe and I have had some discussions with some of you and we continue to hope that we will have at least ten brothers willing to serve for the next term.

This upcoming meeting is scheduled for Saturday July 23, 2011 @ 12 noon; we have met generally in their basement to minimize all the distractions upstairs and outside. The address is 6742 Lynchburg Road, Lynchburg, OH 45142

I hope you seriously consider attending the meeting and if you wish, you are invited to camp out and sleep over. If you have any questions about our fraternity, the meeting etc. I urge you to contact me at artkrasilovsky@bellsouth.net or Joe Hamburg at hamburg@F1ComputingCo.com, If you want to contact Eric and Cindy directly, that email address is: cetavern@frontier.net

Fraternally,

Art Krasilovsky '78

PS. If you are not receiving this from our listserve- oxat.com, please register on the site (www.oxat.com). That will enable you to receive Theta Chi related communications from the chapter and alumni. If you have trouble registering for the listserve, contact Joe at his email address. If you have received multiple copies, please accept my apologies; I wanted to make sure that I am notifying everyone so I used my own contact list as well.
